World's Most Dangerous Airports

The most dangerous airports in the world, from offshore airports in japan to ice covered ones in Antarctica to an airport which has a road that runs through it in Gibraltar!

Since Lukla Nepal is the place most people start their Mount Everest trek, this Himalayan strip gets quite a bit of traffic--mostly to and from Kathmandu. Sirens inform folks for miles when an airplane is landing here, and as you would suspect, only helicopters and Twin Otter type planes can handle the 2,000 foot, uphill runway that is fenced off at the end, to protect you from the edge of a mountain cliff.

PITS Aeronautical Modeling Club - Activity

As a start to the PITS Aeronautical Modeling club, we will be having a 'Kite Flying Competition' on Monday, 5 Dec 2012. All first year and second year Aeronautical students will be participating compulsorily along with other enthusiasts.

Prototyping and Test flights will be conducted on Sunday, 4 Dec 2012 as part of the activity. This is the very first step that any Aeronautical engineer will take towards creating 'flying machines.' The spirit of Engineering is in creativity and in making things work. It is not merely in understanding the science behind things - which is why engineering transcends scientific method, prototyping and delves into actual 'execution.'

Aeromodeling : Special Session Today!

Students belonging to the Department of Aeronautical Engineering will be attending a special session by the Chairman on Aeronautical Engineering at the Tech Lab. This will be followed by the screening of an old classic British Movie on Aircraft Flying and Pioneers filled with a sense of Humor.

They will receive explanations of how Airframes and Engines work, the history of their inventions and development and their present commercial deployment. This is to give them a quick overview on how, and where aeronautical engineering is immediately applied.

A few students belonging to the Department of Mechanical Engineering will also be attending the session.
