Projects: FAQ


Read this FAQ completely to resolve any doubts you have on starting work on your Final year Projects. If you have any issues, please send an e-mail to sunil.beta@parisuthamtech.co.in or please contact me in person. -- Mr. Sunil Beta Baskar (Director - Placement and Incubation)

Please do not get confused by asking the same questions to your peers or others who are not actively part of the Tech Cell. This is to avoid confusion.

Final Year Projects: Frequently Asked Questions


1. I have sent e-mail of my Project team. Is my first Milestone complete?

ans: No. Many have been sending me only the e-mail. You must fill up the form which is located here and await my reply to complete the first milestone.

2. Can I do my Project outside the College under the guidance of a Company?
ans: No. You are requested to follow the method provided within our Campus. Interaction with Companies during the Project is not forbidden, but execution must be done inside our Institution.



3. How many hours a week in our calendar schedule is dedicated to the Project?
ans: There is a planned window of 16 class hours – split into 4 project periods of 4 hours each for the sake of working on a project. For working outside of class hours, Labs/Resources must be requested at least 1 working-day ahead.

4. What is the Last Date for Beginning work on My Project?
ans: Projects must be started on or before 30-Nov-2011 with no delay.


5. What Is the Last Date for Submission of My Project?
ans: Projects must be completed on or before 15-Feb-2011.

6. How many members can team up for a Project?
ans: A minimum of 1 person or a maximum of 4 persons can pursue their project.

7. How is the Project Graded?
ans: The Project is tracked on the basis of milestones, each of which carries weighted credits. These milestones must be achieved on or before their assigned deadlines. The grades will be transparent and monitored by Project Guides and the Tech Cell. A minimum of 150 credits is necessary for the project to reach completion. A maximum of 200 credits can be acquired by students working on a project.

8. Who must we select as Project Guides?
ans: It is necessary to select a senior member of the faculty from the Department in which you are pursuing your course as your Academic Project Guide. You can also choose a Technology Guide who is available at the Campus: namely – Mr. Dinesh (Director: Technology Activities), Mr. Sunil (Director: Incubation/Placement), Mr.Ramesh (Proprietor: Sriram Electricals), Mr. Sandanakrishnan (Director: Zen TV). Other Industry focused individuals may be also requested to help you as your Technology Guide if you have their contact and can spend time regularly with them.

9. Can we get any OD for Project-oriented activities?
ans: There is no On-Duty leave to be granted for Project Activities. They have to be done within the allotted hours. Those students who are members of Tech Brigade may avail additional opportunities to participate in Project Activities.

10. Can I develop or extend a project I have already worked on previously?
ans: No. However, if your problem statement is defined as extending prior cited research work by yourself or others – and is approved by the Project Guides and the Tech Cell, you may work on extending or on using your project data. This is only for exceptions and shall not be allowed in general.

11. Can we use e-mail ids other than our College ‘parisuthamtech.co.in’ e-mail ids for the project?
ans: For simple communication purposes, alternate email ids other than your parisuthamtech.co.in e-mail ids are allowed. For using special source code repositories and additional electronic resources for documentation and printing, you need to use your ‘parisuthamtech.co.in’ e-mail address.

12. Can we change the Topic/Objective of our Project during the course of execution?
ans: No. You will have to give a lot of importance and spend enough time to ensure that you select the area-of-technology, problem/objective of the project accurately. Thereafter you may not change the Topic.

13. Can I add members to my team or change the team during the Project execution?
ans: No. You need to maintain the same team that is registered for executing the project. Removal of members is strictly not allowed except in cases of emergency. Addition of members to the team is strictly not allowed in all circumstances.
