IEEE Transaction Paper

All final year students who have registered their project must have received a confirmation e-mail now. In case the team members have been repeated, only the first registration is considered valid. All attempts to change the registration (team members or add additional members) will incur a penalty. This will be of 5 credits. Those who have given non-working e-mail ids or incorrect email ids must send the corrected version through the tentative project lead or a team member who has successfully received the project team confirmation e-mail.

You need not send e-mail for future registrations. Use this Registration Page to register your project if you have not done so already. Please do not send e-mail for registration hereafter, but directly use this form. Those who have completed this process can read further.

Course Previews for your coming Semester

All Faculty members have worked this day and the day before to give you a neat and concise introduction and preview to the subject you will be learning through the course of the semester. If you are a final year student, it is better to complete your academic presentation at the earliest.

PITS: Faculty Meeting

Today, at PITS, our Chairman will address the Faculty at 4:10pm in the evening for a General Faculty Meeting. This is held just a day before the re-opening of the Institution tomorrow - 30-Nov-2011.

Prior to this, we will have a session with all senior Faculty members attending a Briefing on the Process and Method used for Final Year Project Management. This is to help faculty who will serve as "Internal Academic Project Guides" from within the Department.

During the work-day Faculty members will participate in verifying their sessions for Class Orientation which is being overseen by the Dean, Mrs. Nirmala to ensure that students receive a clear idea about each subject (both theory and practical) which they will receive during the course of the semester.

Indian Economy and Education

Attempts at Correlating Indian Education and Economy have always been difficult. The needs of the Industry are increasing in terms of the number of people needed. Too many myths cloud Higher Education creating a fog of uncertainty. This however is the situation of 'needs', while the actual solution available to satisfy true Industrial needs has not equated.

Is it the system of education that is affecting this? Is it the 'Future Shock' that this generation of youngsters are facing that is exposing them to a mass Attention Deficit situation? Is the cultural shift in India in a critical phase of transition where parents still support their children who have grown up enough to support themselves, thereby stalling the transition to self-driven, self-supporting individuals? The questions we could ask are innumerable.

Please do not get confused by asking the same questions to your peers or others who are not actively part of the Tech Cell. This is to avoid confusion.

Final Year Projects: Frequently Asked Questions


1. I have sent e-mail of my Project team. Is my first Milestone complete?

ans: No. Many have been sending me only the e-mail. You must fill up the form which is located here and await my reply to complete the first milestone.

2. Can I do my Project outside the College under the guidance of a Company?
ans: No. You are requested to follow the method provided within our Campus. Interaction with Companies during the Project is not forbidden, but execution must be done inside our Institution.

Getting Ready for RILA

Everyone here has been making extensive preparations for RILA 2011 - which starts tomorrow.

There are many special resource personnel coming over from far away, just to meet and work with the students of the batch (2008-2012).

Several activities and sessions have been planned out. The event will be coordinated by the Dean, Mrs. Nirmala. Those who need any clarifications can please get in touch with the Dean or Mr. Sunil or ED or Chairman on the days of the events.

About 150 Students have received their blazers, suits and ties today at the campus and some had them corrected.

Chairman had a quick photo session with some of the students while preparing for RILA. Here are some preview photographs from the session.

Participants must ensure that they are wearing their blazers at the opening ceremony which is at "Lecture Theatre 2" (first floor.)

College starts functioning at 8:30am, late-comers will be dealt with severely.

Those who do not attend RILA without prior notice or due notice will have disciplinary activity initiated against them. This may include severe measures including suspension.

Tents are also being erected for students who will be attending the RILA session. Here are some pictures from the site.

Participants must ensure that they follow the Spoken English Rule. Defaulters will be sent for a separate English Bootstrap camp apart from on the spot punishments.

Quick Schedule prior to the beginning of RILA

All Students must report to their respective classrooms (latest) by 9:30am where they will be given instructions for the session.

Day Scholars - Girls may move the common room with their bags for directions on Hostel room allotment and accommodation. The hostels will close at 9:30am strictly.

Day Scholars - Boys must go to the Hostel premises between 8:30 am and 9:30 am to find room allotments and to keep their bags.

Those who are unable to get to the hostel or get room allotments between 8:30am and 9:30am are requested to secure their bags in designated common rooms well ahead of the session.

Mobile Phones
Students who are bringing mobile phones to the campus must register them and place them with the custody of staff in-charge of Hostel accommodation. Those who do not register their mobile phones will have them confiscated for the entire semester.

Laptops
Students are allowed to carry and use laptops during sessions and activities. It is the responsibility of participants to keep their laptops secure.

All students will be provided with notebooks for usage during the classroom sessions. Please use them wisely.
